ABOUT ME

Stephanie Leigh Ross, but my nickname is Trixie.
Born 14th January 1990 in Burton Upon Trent, United Kingdom

The Trend Trap is a blog I run by myself as a hobby. I struggle to find time to write posts because this is not my main job.... Here's a little insight into my life so far....

I have always had a huge passion for fashion and style from a very young age. I vividly remember drawing clothes and shoes on a sketchpad and asking my Nan to 'tick which ones she liked'
I always took all of my clothes out of my wardrobe and hung them on my bunk bed to create outfit ideas... Shame there wasn't such thing as Instagram back then!

I always knew I wanted to do something creative in my life and especially something fashion related.

I would say I was a pretty good student at school; I managed to get 4 A levels which I was proud of and I used these to get myself onto a university degree and Derby University

My degree was 3 years plus a 1 year internship which I spent working at John Lewis head office in London, assisting the Girlswear designer with mainly print and graphics
I would say this internship made my career fall into place, so if you are reading this and are currently studying at university DO AN INTERNSHIP - it was probably the most valuable thing I ever did.

After I graduated ( with first class honors ) I worked at a local clothing company while I decided what I wanted to do. I made the decision to move back down to London and I worked at a children's licensed apparel company called Blues. Unfortunately due to personal problems I had to leave the job in London and return back to Derby, but luckily there was a job there waiting for me to grasp which I took immediately

I started working for a company called Fashion Lab, which later joined a collective of companies called Global Brands Group

I literally had no idea how big this company was, until I had a conversation with one of my co-workers
He told me the head office is in New York - to which my jaw dropped.
He helped me write a letter to my HR department asking if I would be able to transfer
All I am going to say is the process took over a year BUT...

I MADE IT

I work in the Empire State building as a graphic artist for boys nightwear
I feel like my dream came true moving to New York.

But I think you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
